About Cotra
Founded by three friends in 2022, Cotra is a Japanese izakaya in the heart of Brooklyn’s Gowanus neighborhood. Backed by more than a decade of restaurant experience, we focus on quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and warm hospitality.
Our menu is rooted in the tradition of sharing, featuring premium seafood, American Wagyu, seasonal produce, handmade sauces, and carefully selected ingredients sourced from Japan and beyond.
Alongside the food, our bar offers an extensive selection of sake, Japanese whisky, craft cocktails, and wine, each chosen to complement the menu and the experience.

Opened in 2016, Trad Room is Cotra’s sister restaurant and the original home of our izakaya philosophy. For nearly a decade, it has been serving the Bed-Stuy community with a menu rooted in Japanese tradition, centered around seasonal ingredients, shareable plates, and an extensive selection of sake, whisky, and cocktails. Trad Room was founded on the simple idea that great meals are meant to be shared. That same spirit continues to shape every dish, every drink, and every table, creating a neighborhood restaurant where good food and good company always come first.
